Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Skipping or rushing the required calculation on a quantitative FRQ — these are scored points just like conceptual answers, and showing work matters.
- Giving a vague environmental explanation ("it's bad for the environment") instead of the specific mechanism the rubric is checking for.
- Forgetting units on a calculated answer — an otherwise correct number can lose the point without proper units.
- Confusing similar-sounding processes (like eutrophication vs. bioaccumulation) — build explicit comparison notes for terms that are easy to mix up.
