Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Mixing up which convergence test applies to which series — build a decision tree (ratio test vs. comparison vs. alternating series) rather than guessing on exam day.
  • Forgetting that a BC score also reports an AB subscore — a shaky AB-topic foundation drags down both.
  • Treating polar/parametric area and arc-length formulas as separate from the integration skills already learned in AB, instead of recognizing the underlying pattern.
  • Under-practicing Taylor series error-bound (Lagrange remainder) problems, which show up almost every year and are easy to lose easy points on through careless setup.
